![]() At various times it was offered in 4" and a shorter version of maybe 2 3/4 or something like that. Interesting model is the Bulldog which is a fairly small 5 shot 44spl. Early guns were blued and at one time a stainless was available ![]() Generally I would advise someone who is temped by a CA to keep looking and find a beat up S&W or Ruger for the same money. If all you desire is a point and shoot up close belly gun and you luck into a cheap deal ($150 or less?) I guess it is a maybe. You run into the odd gun with a usable but fairly heavy trigger but most examples are pretty darn difficult to shoot and the general fit and finish is grim. Not exactly sure but several tales I heard went something like this.Quality dipped during various ownership but really was never very good Was a one man company (ownership) at one time, he got bought out by some corporate group, and then at some point the original family (first owners son?)regained ownership. and ran up to around 1,900,000 in about 1991 when Charter Arms reorganized. Charters are all over the map for fit, finish and triggers. The Stratford address began around serial number 315,000 in about 1970.
